hairpair ("we," "our," or "us") operates the hairpair.ai platform — an AI-powered service that matches clients with hair stylists and barbers in Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights as a user.

By using hairpair, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the platform.

From Clients

• Hair profile: Hair type, texture, porosity, goals, and service preferences you provide during the matching quiz.
• Budget: Your stated price range per appointment.
• Vibe preference: Your preferred stylist communication style.
• Booking history: Services booked, dates, stylists seen, and appointment status.
• Feedback signals: Ratings and reviews you submit after appointments, including expertise scores, vibe scores, and rebook intent.
• Location data: General location (city level) used to surface nearby professionals. We do not track precise GPS location in real time.
• Account information: Email address and name when you create an account.

From Stylists and Barbers

• Professional profile: Name, photo, certifications, specialties, experience level, pricing, work setting, and salon address.
• Portfolio: Photos you upload to your profile.
• Contact details: Phone number, email, Instagram handle, and TikTok handle.
• Business information: Salon name, address, and service area.
• Appointment data: Booking requests you receive, their status, and client notes.

Automatically Collected

• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and time spent on the platform.
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, and device type.
• Cookies and local storage: Used to maintain your session, save quiz progress, and remember preferences.

Core platform functionality

• Generating AI-powered match scores between clients and professionals.
• Displaying stylist and barber profiles to matched clients.
• Processing and managing appointment bookings.
• Sending booking confirmation and notification emails via Resend.
• Calculating and displaying reputation scores for professionals on the hairpair dashboard.

Industry data and analytics (with your consent)

hairpair sells anonymized, aggregated insights to haircare brands, beauty schools, and certification bodies. This is how we keep the platform free for clients. The data we share with industry partners:

• Never includes your name, email, or contact details.
• Never includes individual appointment records tied to you.
• Is aggregated across many users before sharing (e.g., "40% of curly hair clients in Charlotte prioritize moisture treatments").

You control which data categories you share through the consent toggles during onboarding and in your Privacy Settings at any time. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting your ability to use the platform.

The four consent categories are: market research & trends, product improvement insights, underserved community mapping, and stylist education demand signals.

We use the following third-party services to operate hairpair:

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data. We encourage you to review them.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share data only in the following circumstances:

• Between clients and stylists: When you request a booking, your name and any notes you provided are visible to the stylist. Stylists' contact details are shown to clients they accept.
• Service providers: We share necessary data with Supabase, Resend, Stripe, and Vercel solely to deliver the service.
• Anonymized industry insights: Aggregated, de-identified data shared with industry partners as described in Section 3, subject to your consent choices.
• Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Appointment records are retained for 24 months to support dispute resolution and platform integrity. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business interests (such as fraud prevention).

Regardless of where you are located, you have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Update inaccurate information in your profile or account settings.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Data export: Request an export of your data in a portable format.
• Consent withdrawal: Change your data sharing preferences at any time via Privacy Settings.
• Opt out: Stop using the platform at any time. We do not use dark patterns to make this difficult.

hairpair uses browser local storage and session cookies to maintain your login state and save onboarding progress. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

You can clear local storage and cookies through your browser settings at any time. Doing so will log you out and reset any saved quiz progress.

hairpair is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we may have collected such data, contact us at privacy@hairpair.ai.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security on all database tables, and access controls limiting which team members can view user data.

No system is 100% secure. If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please disclose it responsibly to privacy@hairpair.ai.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of hairpair after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
