Terms of Service

Read this.These terms contain important information about booking cancellations, professional obligations, and hairpair's role as a marketplace — not a service provider.
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of hairpair.ai and any related services (collectively, the "Platform") operated by hairpair ("we," "our," or "us").
By creating an account, completing the client quiz, registering as a professional, or using any feature of the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email where possible.
2. Description of Service
hairpair is a marketplace platformthat connects clients seeking hair and grooming services with independent hair stylists and barbers ("professionals"). hairpair provides:
- An AI-powered matching system that surfaces relevant professionals based on client preferences.
- Professional profiles with verified certifications and client-validated badges.
- An appointment request and booking system.
- A reputation scoring system based on client feedback.
- Email notifications for booking activity.
hairpair does not employ hair stylists or barbers. We do not provide hair services. All services are rendered by independent professionals who use the Platform.
3. User Accounts
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.
Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@hairpair.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.
One account per person
Each person may maintain one client account and one professional account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions or misrepresent professional qualifications is prohibited.
4. Booking and Cancellation Policy
Appointment requests
Submitting a booking request through hairpair is a request — not a confirmed appointment. An appointment is confirmed only when the professional explicitly accepts the request through their dashboard. Professionals have 24 hours to respond to booking requests.
Cancellations by clients
Clients may cancel appointments at any time through the Platform. We strongly encourage cancellations at least 48 hours in advance to respect the professional's time. Repeated last-minute cancellations may result in account restrictions.
Cancellations by professionals
Professionals who frequently cancel confirmed appointments may face account restrictions or removal from the Platform. Clients will be notified immediately upon cancellation so they can rebook with another professional.
No-shows
No-shows by either party are recorded and may affect the professional's reputation score or the client's access to the Platform.
5. Professional Responsibilities
Hair stylists and barbers who join hairpair agree to:
- Accurate profiles: Provide truthful information about your experience, certifications, services, and pricing. Misrepresenting qualifications is grounds for immediate removal.
- Attend confirmed appointments: Honor every appointment you accept. Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations will result in account suspension.
- Maintain valid licenses: Hold all required state licenses for the services you offer (e.g., cosmetology license, barber license). hairpair may request proof at any time.
- Comply with local regulations: Follow all applicable health, safety, and sanitation standards required in North Carolina.
- Respond promptly: Respond to booking requests within 24 hours or they will expire.
- Certification accuracy: Only claim certifications you genuinely hold. We verify Tier 1 certifications within 48 hours of upload. False certifications result in immediate removal.
- Inclusive service claims: Self-certified inclusive service badges (autism-friendly, wheelchair accessible, etc.) are subject to client validation over time. False claims may result in badge removal.
6. Client Responsibilities
Clients who use hairpair agree to:
- Honest quiz responses: Provide accurate information about your hair type, goals, and preferences to receive relevant matches.
- Respect professionals' time: Show up to confirmed appointments. Communicate cancellations promptly.
- Accurate feedback: Submit honest, good-faith reviews after appointments. Review manipulation or retaliatory reviews are prohibited.
- Appropriate conduct: Treat all professionals with respect. Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior will result in account termination.
7. hairpair's Role as a Marketplace
hairpair is a marketplace, not a service provider. This means:
- The hair services you receive are provided by independent professionals, not by hairpair.
- hairpair does not control the quality, safety, or outcome of any hair service.
- Disputes about the quality of services rendered should be resolved between the client and professional directly.
- hairpair does not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or performance of any professional listed on the Platform.
While we take the integrity of our platform seriously — including verifying certifications and monitoring reputation scores — we are not liable for the acts or omissions of professionals or clients using the Platform.
8. Payment Terms
hairpair is currently free for clients. Professionals are currently listed at no charge during our early access period.
When payment processing is enabled (via Stripe), the following will apply:
- All pricing displayed on the Platform is in US Dollars and represents estimates. Final pricing is determined by the professional.
- hairpair may charge a marketplace fee on transactions processed through the Platform. Fee details will be disclosed before any charge.
- Refunds for services are handled between the client and professional. hairpair does not issue refunds for completed hair services.
- Payment disputes for Platform fees should be directed to legal@hairpair.ai.
9. Prohibited Conduct
The following is prohibited on hairpair:
- Misrepresenting your identity, qualifications, or professional credentials.
- Using the Platform to harass, threaten, or discriminate against any user.
- Attempting to circumvent the matching system or engage professionals outside the Platform to avoid fees.
- Posting false, misleading, or defamatory reviews.
- Scraping, crawling, or automated access to the Platform without written permission.
- Using the Platform for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Sharing account credentials with others or creating accounts for third parties.
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, modify, or create derivative works of the Platform.
10. Intellectual Property
hairpair and its logos, matching algorithm, brand elements, and content are the exclusive property of hairpair. You may not use, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Platform without our written consent.
By uploading photos, portfolio images, or other content to hairpair, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the Platform and in promotional materials related to hairpair.
11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, hairpair shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Platform, including but not limited to the quality of services rendered by professionals, no-shows, or cancellations.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to hairpair in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct harmful to other users or the Platform.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting hello@hairpair.ai. Upon termination, your access to the Platform will cease and your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Sections 7, 10, 11, 13, and 14 survive termination.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Before initiating any legal action, you agree to contact us at legal@hairpair.ai and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
